Interior Designer

Major duties and responsibilities include:
Developing and continuing an interior design program for all areas including clinics with special needs such as ICU's, Urgent Care, Psychiatric and Dementia units. Designing building interior environments to promote a healing environment for the patients, employee productivity, health and welfare, and for the health and welfare of the public. Preparing detailed scaled architectural floor plans including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and telecommunications locations. Preparing project and cost estimate documents. Maintaining interior and exterior signage system. Maintaining interior design files, which include blueprints, paint, signage, wall art, window treatments, and flooring material specifications. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
You must possess at least one year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the Federal Service. Qualifying specialized experience includes experience that required the performance of work concerned with the design and alteration of interior spaces to meet functional and aesthetic needs such as:
Identifying, researching, and creatively solving problems pertaining to the function and quality of the interior environment; Performing services relative to interior spaces, including programming, design analysis, space planning and aesthetics, using specialized knowledge of interior construction, building systems and components, building codes, equipment, materials, and furnishings; Preparing drawings and documents relative to the design of interior spaces in order to enhance and protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public; Coordinating and integrating the mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering disciplines within the interior context; and Managing projects, developing cost estimates, evaluating bid proposals, reviewing construction documents, participating in on-site construction visits, conducting pre- and post-occupancy evaluations, developing standards for efficient space management, etc. (THIS EXPERIENCE MUST BE SUPPORTED BY YOUR RESUME TO BE CREDITABLE.) OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR
Experience:
You must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Major study must have been in interior design or another field that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in interior design, interior architecture, or interior environmental design; or passage of the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) examination. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION) OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND
Experience:
You must have an equivalent combination of related graduate level education and specialized experience, as described above, to meet the requirements at the GS-11 level for this position.
