Responsible for the design and/or testing of tooling and equipment and/or planning the manufacturing processes in a designated area of the manufacturing plant. Work is of a technical nature where decisions are made within limits of general practices and procedures, but where supervision is available to handle unusual situations. Occasionally may assign work to small group of employees.
Responsible for design, development, testing, and control of major engineering projects involving tools, equipment, plant and manufacturing processes in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is exercised as well as a high level of independent judgment. May supervise or exercise technical direction over other engineers or engineering support personnel with specific engineering objectives.
Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and or project.
Proposes and evaluates manufacturing processes and equipment for assigned areas.
Directs the design, development and/or improvements of manufacturing processes and equipment for assigned areas.
Evaluates expenditures for processes and/or equipment.
Maintains cost controls.
Provides technical assistance and training for assigned plant operations.
Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions.
Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise.
Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities.
Qualifications
Basic Required
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
Thorough knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes
Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals
Basic Preferred
Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to manufacturing preferred
Education and Training
College degree with a major in electrical engineering or equivalent experience
