Summary:
Via Credit Union is seeking a Collector who reports to the Vice President of Collections.
The Collector contacts members who have past due accounts and work with members to develop a strategy that will bring the account current.
Responsibilities include making recommendations on action that should be taken if loan collateral is in jeopardy or member fails to meet promises.
Keep supervisor advised of particularly precarious situations.
Provide clerical support to VP of Collections and department as needed.
Scheduled hours are Tuesday - Thursday 8:
15 - 5:
00, Friday 8:
15 - 5:
30, and Saturday 8:
15 - noon, unless otherwise specified.

Essential Functions:
Work from collection queue's contacting members with past-due accounts Work from Visa delinquency reports to collect past-due Visa accounts Mail late notices, ensuring that credit union errors are detected promptly and corrected Respond to telephone calls regarding late letters and delinquent accounts Maintain a detailed record of all communications made regarding delinquent accounts in the credit unions computer system and keeping a copy of all mail or e-mail correspondence.
Perform skip-tracing duties as required and directed Assist in the training and development of new employees Make court appearances when necessary Assist in the repossession of collateral when necessary Maintain a working knowledge of bankruptcy laws, collection laws, repossession laws, etc Type correspondence for the collections department in a professional Adhere strictly to credit union policies and procedures Work diligently to reduce credit union losses Cross-sell credit union services when appropriate Works with members on loan workouts and troubled debt loans which includes gathering information and presenting to the loan workout team Assist the members with a variety of needs including over the phone payments Monitor daily news sources for incarcerated members and obituaries to compare with any outstanding credit union debt Attend collection related training inside or outside the credit union when applicable, available, and of importance Track and monitor reports such as First Payment Defaults, etc.
in order to increase the efficiency of collecting the account Track and post Bankruptcy trustee payment checks when received Must maintain positive relationships with all agencies that are involved in the collections process - internal and external Must maintain accurate records for the courts and all involved Must keep supervisor informed and up-to-date on collections Must maintain confidentiality at all times And other duties as assigned by the VP of Collections Position

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
